Vice-Chancellor Holds Bilateral Meetings With Key Institutions In Daad And University Of Bonn
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Seidu Al-hassan has held separate bilateral meetings with officials of key institutions in the German Academic Excellence Service, DAAD and the University of Bonn in Germany.
The primary objectives of the meetings were to engage in discussions aimed at fostering bilateral relations and exploring educational and research opportunities for the University for Development Studies, UDS.
Additionally, the Vice-Chancellor explored the potential of establishing Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between UDS and other prestigious universities and training institutions in Germany.
At the meeting with the International Office of the University of Bonn, Prof. Seidu Al-hassan presented a letter of intent to the German University to cover more broad areas of collaboration, including joint Degree programmes.
The Vice-Chancellor also signed a generic MOU that allows other institutions to join the UDS School of Economics and Faculty of Social Sciences. The Vice Chancellor emphasized the need for collaborations in order to enhance scholarship opportunities for staff with Masters Degrees.
Prof. Seidu Al-hassan also met with the Director of the Center for Development Research (ZEF) of the University of Bonn, Germany. They discussed broad areas of collaboration and cooperation in areas of Agriculture, Food Security, the Shea Industry and joint Degree Programs. Professor Qaim spoke about his interest in Ghana in general and Northern Ghana in particular, and indicated that he looks forward to working with UDS. The Vice-chancellor invited Prof. Dr. Qaim to visit UDS.
Present at the meetings was the Director of the West African Centre for Sustainable Rural Transformation WAC-SRT. Dr. Michael Ayamga.
The visits are in line with the VC’s vision to vigorously pursue internationalization in the university.
Such meetings will surely contribute significantly to the broader academic community and strengthen the bond between UDS and the international community.
