As per the Statutes of UDS, the Graduate School is governed by a Board. The Graduate School Board is chaired by the Dean of Graduate School; whiles the members consist of the Registrar, Campus Principals and Librarian or their representatives; as well as representatives from the Schools or Faculties and a Secretary to lead the policy and strategic advancement of the School.

The Office of the Dean of the Graduate School has oversight implementation responsibilities for the overall coordination of programmes and routine activities of the Faculties and School. In addition, it has the oversight responsibility of monitoring and evaluating of programmes in order to recommend demand driven postgraduate programmes that are of national relevance.

The Office of the Dean of the Graduate School has oversight implementation responsibilities for the overall coordination of programmes and routine activities of the Faculties and School. In addition, it has the oversight responsibility of monitoring and evaluation of programmes in order to report on the state of the art to the University Administration.

Campus Coordination of Graduate Programmes

Campus level postgraduate activities are coordinated by the Postgraduate Coordinators of the Schools or Faculty with the support of the Deans.

Supervision of Postgraduate Theses

Supervision shall:

• Be selected on the basis of their specializations and research outputs in the student’s area of research
• Be responsible for guiding the student in the thesis development
• Mentor students on the academic progression
• Serve as internal examiners of the completed thesis
• Coordinate Committees and activities regarding their students
