University for Development Studies UDS, Sets to Hold 18th Edition of Harmattan School
In an anticipation, the University for Development Studies (UDS) is gearing up for its 18th Annual Harmattan School scheduled to on February 7th and 8th, 2024. Established by the Institute of Interdisciplinary Research (IIR), the Harmattan School has become a pivotal two-day event that converges diverse stakeholders to deliberate on pressing development challenges within the nation.
The upcoming edition, themed "Accountable Governance, Violent Extremism, and the 2024 Election," promises to be a dynamic platform for engaging discussions and collaborative problem-solving. The event, would be hosted within the Dr. Andani Andan Academic Board Chamber, located in the Tamale Central Administration Block, seeks to foster insightful conversations, networking opportunities, and knowledge exchange among participants.
The distinguished guests expected to grace the occasion include the Special Guest of Honor, Rt. Hon. Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, Speaker of the Parliament of Ghana. Adding to the lineup of esteemed speakers is the Keynote Speaker, Martin A. B.K Amidu, a former Attorney General and Special Prosecutor. Other notable figures set to share their expertise are Ms. Eunice Agbenyadzi, Head of Programmes at STAR Ghana Foundation, and Dr. Adam Bonaa, a respected security and safety expert.
The Harmattan School, initiated in 2007, has evolved into a vital platform where academia, security services, policymakers, public and civil society organizations, as well as the general public, converge to collectively address multifaceted societal challenges. The event, commencing at 9 AM on each scheduled day, aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies surrounding the identified themes.
