UDS Triumphs Over Ukamba University Amid Heavy Downpour to Secure Second Position in Group A at the Ongoing FASU Games

In a thrilling display of skill and resilience, the University for Development Studies (UDS) football team cruised to a 4-1 victory over Kenya's Ukamba University in their latest group stage match at the ongoing Federation of African University Sports (FASU) Games in Lagos, Nigeria.

Despite battling adverse weather conditions, including a heavy downpour at Lagos State University, UDS dominated the game from start to finish, showing great character after their earlier setback against Nyerere University.

The Ghanaian side wasted no time in asserting their dominance, showcasing dazzling footwork, seamless passing, and superior tactical awareness.

The midfield, expertly marshaled by Mohammed Asigri, controlled the tempo of the game, denying Ukamba University any meaningful possession and ensuring UDS maintained their grip throughout.

The breakthrough came almost halfway into the first half when Musah Abdul Ganiyu coolly slotted home the first goal for UDS. His strike came after a well-orchestrated series of passes between the UDS players, sending their supporters into wild celebration.

Before the halftime whistle, UDS doubled their lead with a stunning goal from Alhassan EzeDeen, whose effort put them in a commanding position heading into the break.

In the second half, UDS continued their relentless pressure, and it wasn’t long before Dan-Mekeri Huzef found the back of the net. His goal came after a perfectly timed through pass from the midfield, solidifying UDS's lead at 3-0.

Ukamba University managed to pull one back through their striker, who capitalized on a rare defensive lapse from UDS, but the Kenyan team never truly threatened to mount a comeback.

The final nail in the coffin came courtesy of Agyementor Jonas, who capped off UDS’s dominant performance with a brilliant finish to make it 4-1. His goal was the icing on the cake, sealing a comprehensive victory for the Ghanaian side.

With this win, UDS has now registered two wins and one loss in the group stages, putting them in a strong position to qualify for the semifinals of the FASU Games.

Their resilience in overcoming the weather conditions and their ability to bounce back from their previous defeat against Nyerere University proves that UDS is a force to be reckoned with in this competition.

As the tournament progresses, UDS’s impressive form and determination have positioned them as serious contenders for the title, with their sights set on advancing further in the competition. All eyes will now be on their upcoming matches as they aim to secure a spot in the Semfinals.
