UDS School Of Nursing And Midwifery Partners With University Of British Columbia For Health Screening In Chanshegu Community
The University for Development Studies (UDS) School of Nursing and Midwifery in collaboration with the School of Nursing of the University of British Columbia (UBC), Okanagan in Canada held a free health screening for the residence of Chanshegu community, a surburd of Tamale Metropolist on March 28th, 2024 at the Unity Clinic, Chanshegu in the Northern Region of Ghana.
The event was well-attended by the community members alongside students and staff from both universities. The Dean of School of Nursing and Midwifery, Dr. Vida N. Yakong delivered a speech expressing her gratitude to the community for the turn out during the exercise and to UBC for their enduring partnership.
Dr. Yekong emphasized the dual benefit of the event which include providing vital health checks to the community, fostering cultural exchange and community development for the participating students from the two universities. This collaboration between UDS and UBC dates back to the year 2000, when UBC played a pivotal role in establishing UDS Nursing program. The partnership has since expanded to include student and staff exchange programs.
The Dean of the School of Nursing and Midwifery ended her speech, calling for more fruitful collaborations between the Schools and the respective universities in the near future.
