UDS Launches The Campus Shuttle System

The UDS Students Representative Council (SRC) in collaboration with the Aayalolo Transport System Ghana, has launched the Campus Shuttle System.

The program took place on Saturday January 28, 2023 at the Multipurpose Auditorium on the Tamale campus. Dignitaries who graced the program included Northern Regional Minister Hon. Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu, The Vice Chancellor Prof. Seidu Al-hassan, The Director of Finance Dr. Mohammed Hardi Shaibu, the Dean of Students Dr. Musah Alhassan, the Chief Director of the Northern Regional Coordinating Council Alhaji Alhassan Issahaku, the Regional NADMO Director Mr. Abdallah Salim and the Regional Manager of the Aayalolo Transport system Mr. Sanusi Kayode.

Following the introduction of the Aayalolo transport system in the city of Tamale, the UDS SRC appealed to the company to extend their services to the campuses of the University to help students to commute safely to and from campus.

Prior to this initiative, the main means of transportation available to students were by the auto rickshaw popularly known as “yellow yellow” or “pragya”, personal motorbikes and very few taxis on campus.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Seidu Al-hassan, expressed his profound gratitude to the Regional Minister for his unflinching support and contribution to achieving the mission and vision of the university. He thanked the leadership of the SRC for taking the initiative, adding that it is going to help solve some of the transportation difficulties students face.

Prof. Seidu Al-hassan appealed to students to patronize the shuttle system so as to help bring more buses on board.

The Northern Regional Minister Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu said he was happy to see that the Aayalolo buses had extended their services to students of UDS.

He also appealed to the students to patronize and handle the buses well to ensure longevity. He added that if the buses are well patronized, it will serve as a reference to others who would also want to invest in the university.

To climax the event, the Regional Minister, the Vice Chancellor and the other Dignitaries took a short trip on one of the shuttle buses around the Tamale Campus.
