Pupils From Abubakar Saddik Social Center Tour Central Campus of UDS
Some pupils from the Abubakar Saddick Social Center, a school that predominantly caters for the education of orphaned children, paid a visit to the Center for Educational Innovation and Leadership of the Faculty of Education of the University for Development Studies (UDS), to familiarize themselves with the University Environment. The visit was also to afford the pupils the opportunity to interact with lecturers and officers of the Center for Educational Innovation and Leadership of the Faculty of Education.
The pupils were welcomed to the center by the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Dr Ibrahim Mohammed Gunu who offered insights into student life at the University for Development Studies. He advised them not to allow their circumstances to discourage them from aspiring to become great people in the future.
The coordinator of the Center for Educational Innovation and Leadership, (CEIL) Dr. Iddrisu Issah said, CEIL had already taken the leadership of the Abubakar Saddick Social Center through training sessions on leadership. He indicated that bringing the children on a tour of the University campus would encourage them to aspire to become graduates in the future.
A research officer at the center, Hajia Niamatu-lai Abdulai also reminded the pupils that some former students of the Abubakar Saddick Social Center, are currently studying various courses at the University for Development. She said this was a sign that they too can become students of the university if they work hard.
The Center for Educational Innovation and Leadership (CEIL) of the Faculty of Education, UDS aims to advance effective teaching and engaged learning to stakeholders in the education sector.
The students later met with the head of the University Relations Unit, Madam Sauda Belko. She told them about the functions of the various departments of the University and encouraged them to study hard in order to become responsible people in society.
The interaction concluded with group photographs.
