KTCSR-UDS Validation Workshop On Women Empowerment And Nutrition In Ghana, The Role Of Physical Infrastructure
The Kazuhiko Takeuchi Centre for Sustainability and Resilience (KTCSR) organized a one day validation workshop on the 12th of April 2023 at the UDS Guest House on the Tamale campus of the University for Development Studies.
The workshop focused on the importance of Physical Infrastructure on Women’s Empowerment and Nutrition in Ghana. The objectives of the workshop among others, was to bring together major stakeholders to discuss the role of women in nutrition in Ghana with emphasis on the role of physical infrastructure. The workshop also aimed at presenting the technical report of the research on Women Empowerment and Nutrition in Ghana conducted by the KTCSR of UDS.
The research was jointly conducted by the Director of the Kazuhiko Takeuchi Centre for Sustainability and Resilience, Prof Hamdiya Alhassan, and Co-Principal Investigators (Co-PI) Dr. Abdul Hanan Abdallah and Mr. Mensah Tawiah Cobbinah of the KTCSR. The workshop had participants from various disciplines participating both in person and via virtual platforms.
The Dean of the School of Economics, Prof. Samuel Donkor said the role of Physical Infrastructure in Women’s Empowerment and Nutrition in Ghana cannot be overemphasized. He also recognized and commended the role women play in the area of nutrition and self-empowerment amidst the challenges they face.
Notable discourse within the report was gender equality in response to the role of physical infrastructure on women empowerment and nutrition.
The report was presented and accepted by the stakeholders at the workshop after a thorough academic and scholarly scrutiny of the report. The team was commended for the good work done.
The project is funded by International Centre for Evaluation and Development (ICED) and is part of the Infrastructure's Impacts on Nutritious Diet, Women's Empowerment and Gender Equality (IINDWEGE) project.
