The University for Development Studies has moved up to 4th place in Ghana and 80th in Africa
in the latest ranking released by the Ranking Web of Universities.

Web rankings for universities are graded by Visibility (50%) and Activity (50%). Visibility
(50%) has to do with the quality of the website’s contents, counting all the external in links that
the University web domain receives from third parties. Those links recognize the institutional
prestige, the academic performance, the value of the information, and the usefulness of the
services as introduced in the webpages according to the criteria of millions of web editors from
all over the world.

Activity is broken down to three criteria; Presence, Openness and Excellence. Presence (16.67%)
has to do with the number of relevant pages on the site, Openness (16.67%) is the impact of our
institutional repository and finally Excellence (16.67%) is about the quality of publications from
the University Community.

The efforts of the ICT Directorate in upgrading the University’s web presence (website,

resulted in an increase in Openness and the quality of publications from the University’s
Lecturers and Researchers has increased the ranking of Excellence.
