GAQHI Donates Medical Equipment to UDS to Boost Healthcare

Health Care delivery at the University for Development Studies (UDS) has received a boost. This follows the donation of medical equipment worth over 40,000 USD to the University by the Ghana Health Service through the Ghana Association of Quasi - Government Health Institutions (GAQHI) on Monday, May 30, 2022.

While presenting the medical equipment to the University, the president of GAQHI who is also the Director of Health Services at UDS, Dr. Kabiru Koredele Azeez, commended the Government of Ghana, the Ministry of Health and members of GAQHI for the donation. He added that UDS is fortunate to be among the first four institutions out of the 122 QUASI Government Health Facilities in the Ghana to be chosen to receive the first batch of the equipment which was sponsored by the World Bank.

Dr. Azeez explained that GAQHI is an Association of state-owned health facilities from various government sectors such as the Education, Agriculture, Security Services, Industry, Communication and others with the aim of providing quality, innovative, affordable and accessible health care delivery to everybody in every part of the country.
 
Dr. Azeez mentioned that the Honorable Minister of Health, Mr. Kwaku Agyeman-Manu was so particular about this donation to UDS hoping it will help not only to improve healthcare delivery, but to also enhance the medical training in the university. The equipment included: Hospital Beds, Mattresses, Assorted Medicines, Pulse Oximeters, Assorted Soaps and Disinfectants, Gun Thermometers, Stethoscopes, BP Machines among others.

Receiving the items on behalf of the University, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Felix K. Abagale thanked the GAQHI and all its partners for the kind gesture and assured them of the university’s resolve to put the items into good use for the benefit of all.

Some members of the UDS Management who were present to witness the donation, included the Registrar; Mr. Nurudeen I. Abubakar, the Deputy Director of Finance, Mr. Alhassan Iddrisu, the University Librarian, Mr. Edwin Thompson, Staff of the University Health Directorate and the University Relations.
