The Graduate School of the University for Development Studies is located at the City Campus in Tamale.
Our programmes ascribe to UNESCO’s definition of the goals, objectives and aims of development as “not to develop things but to develop people”. Development must be aimed at spiritual, moral, and natural advancement of the whole human being, both as an individual and a member of society. This should lead to an increase in the capacity of people or empowerment of people for sustainable management of their environment, culminating in more efficient and effective use of resources and the benefits accruing thereof.
The Graduate School started in 2004 with one (1) sandwich programme in MPhil. Development Studies but currently runs more than fifty (50) MSc, MPhil and PhD programmes in the Nyankpala and Tamale Campuses. These programmes are run either as sandwich or full-time or both. Graduate intake is aimed at achieving the National current target of 10%.
